BIO

Britta Kathmeyer, born in Germany, 1963, is a visual artist residing in Sonoma County.
With a degree in Textile Design from the College of Art and Design, Hannover, Germany, in 1988, she continued her studies on a Fulbright scholarship in the US graduating with an MFA with High Distinction from the California College of the Arts, Oakland, in 1991. She later immersed herself in studies of Eastern bodywork, yoga and meditation, which had a profound influence on her art making.
Since 1988 Britta has exhibited her work in galleries in both Germany and the U.S. She has collaborated on various projects with artists and non-artists alike, including a public art project funded by the San Francisco Arts Commission Cultural Equity Grant in 2002. From 1994 to 1997 she was an Affiliate Artist at the Headlands Center for the Arts. She was a senior lecturer at CCA and a member of the Independent Study Faculty at JFK University and as a visiting artist presented at the San Francisco Art Institute, CCA, JFK University, and the Headlands Center for the Arts.
